The busywork
Every morning, the ops team rebuilt the day's quotes by hand. Rates lived in one spreadsheet, client data in another, underwriting rules in a third, and the output template in a fourth. A single quote meant copying figures between all four — slow, and easy to get wrong.
What we built
We mapped the underwriting rules out of the spreadsheets and into a single quoting engine. One form captures the client; the engine applies the rules and returns an accurate quote in seconds. The spreadsheets became a database; the manual steps became software.
The result
Quoting dropped from a morning's work to a few minutes. Re-keying errors went to zero. The team kept their judgement and lost the busywork.
